Get POWERFUL Flicks In Rocket League Using This Secret Method

Tell me if this sounds familiar...

You're defending in goal, and the opponents mess up their shot and start going back on defense.

That leaves you with the moment you've been waiting for...

The Ball Is Yours To Dribble

You let the ball land on top of your car and slowly start driving towards the goal.

Your heart starts beating faster as you think of all the moves you could pull off.

Should I flick?

Should I fake a flick?

Should I pass the ball?

Your mind is racing and you have to act fast since you see an opponent racing in on your right side.

You finally decide your gonna flick it over the defender coming in and all the way into the goal where the defender won't have a chance to save it.

The moment is here...

You press jump and the ball goes way too high and you do a front flip under the ball, completely messing up the flick.

Don't worry it happens to the best of us.

But why are flicks so difficult?

Well, there's a lot of reasons they are difficult but more importantly, you need to know the ways to make them not as difficult.

Don't get me wrong, they will still be incredibly hard, but at least you'll know how to be more consistent with them.

So how exactly can you make flicks easier?

Well, it all has to do with one big topic.

The Position Of The Ball Before You Flick

You need to be aware of where the ball is positioned on top of your car before you commit to actually doing a flick.

In order to get the most power and the proper height out of a flick, you need to let the ball roll slightly forward onto the hood of your car.

I see countless people looking for help on getting good flicks, yet a lot of them don't understand this simple concept.

If the ball is directly above your car, you will almost never execute a good flick.

So before you go into the flick, slow your car down a tiny bit so the ball rolls onto the hood of your car.

This is the perfect time to flick.

When the ball is on the hood of your car, it won't go very high when you jump in order to flick.

The ball will often go to the perfect height where the back of your car will smack it and give it a lot of speed and a good amount of height.

Now, a lot of times a defender will attack quickly and the position of the ball won't be in the right place to execute a proper flick, in situations like these, you should not commit to a flick.

You need to be able to think quickly and adapt to what's happening around you which means you won't always have the time to do a proper flick.

One very effective trick when you see a defender coming is to let the ball drop over the nose of your car and onto the ground.

This is good for two reasons:

A lot of times you will fake out the defender by acting like you're going to flick but instead dropping the ball down.

When this happens the defender will often pre-jump and fly over you while you roll the ball in the net.

The other reason is that you can force a good 50/50 if the defender is not faked out.

You do this by letting the ball drop and as the defender gets close you flip into the ball forcing a 50/50.

Another effective trick is to let the ball roll slightly to one side of your car so you can maneuver around the defender while keeping the ball on top of your car.

This is very effective but a much harder technique to be consistent with.

So I encourage you to practice these techniques in free play and jump into some 1-v-1 so you can get good at these techniques.

Even if you don't like 1-v-1, getting good at it will greatly improve your ability to score in other game modes.
